General Summary of PositionAssists the Pharmacist in preparing and distributing medications to patients. Performs designated technical functions to facilitate pharmacy operations. Primary Duties and Responsibilities • Consistently fulfills all the responsibilities of the Pharmacy Material Handler. • Under the supervision of the licensed Pharmacist, prepares oral and topical medications for dispensing to patients, including the selection, labeling, and packaging of appropriate pharmaceuticals, and filling of medication carts. • Assists patients, nurses, physicians, and others with medication order requests and pharmacy related needs. • Monitors stock inventory levels and medication expiration dates for pharmacy areas and replenishes medications as needed. Conducts monthly/periodic inspections of patient care/department areas. • Pulls, fills, and replaces medications in the automated medication dispensing machines and transports to appropriate nursing unit(s).
